London Olympic Velodrome training

Lee Valley Leisure plan to open the velodrome for ‘normal’ business on 31st March 2014 and are considering applications for access from cycling clubs and other potential user groups.
THE EXCITING NEWS is that our application has been accepted and we have been given exclusive use of the velodrome for club sessions every fourth Thursday evening; 19:45 to 22:00. We do not know the date of our first session and Lee Valley Leisure will have a considerable logistical challenge to accommodate all interested parties. Therefore, I consider our ‘slot’ to be a stake in the ground at this point. However, our genuine interest is acknowledged and I am confident we will become a regular user as things bed down. It is my intention to secure a fortnightly session going forward.
Chris is setting up a track group of interested members and we are 30 as of 1st Feb., a mixture of experienced track competitors and complete novices. So, we will have to devise a plan for safe use of the track during our (coach led) sessions and there may be some ‘rationing’ to start with as the sessions will not be ‘drop in’ when you feel like it.
All members of the track group will be expected to obtain ‘accreditation’ to ride independently at the velodrome; see http://www.visitleevalley.org.uk/en/content/cms/london2012/velo-park/#track
