Odam Trophy after Six events

01 July 2010

Update after 6 events from 10.
Wed 30 June saw welcome visits from old boy Paul McMahon having a break from flying Airbuses around the low spots of Asia and Helen Boatman struggling to find her previous form. Owen Goodspeed, Century CC popped in too.
Helen returned in 24:16, Owen 25:10 and Paul 26:23; all some way off their best but fighting hard.

In the Odam handicap, Tom and Chris still head the table but were unable to increase their points totals. As forecast, Matt Southerden and Ian have started their moves and only have to turn up to push Tom and Chris out of the limelight. Long range outlook? Mattt, Ian, Tom. Now prove me wrong.
Tom also leads the race for the scratch medal, with Chris again in second place. Matt Molloy is the danger man with only three qualifying rides to date. If Dave (GL) Kendall can find his way back to Amwell, he could be a contender.
Long range forecast? Matt Molloy, Tom then a very close call between Ian and Phil.

Highlight of the evening was a comedic performance by Matt Molloy.
Paul has often turned up without his cycling shoes and occasionally without any pedals, Louise without her bib shorts; everyone forgets the entry fee and Chris frequently leaves his head in the office. But Matt takes the biscuit; he turned up at a bike race without a bike. Yes folks, he opened his car boot and ………….there was nothing there but a kit bag.
A panic call to Dad who collected the bike and made it in record time through the A10 traffic, arriving five minutes before the off. Matt then did a PB. Adrenalin rush or what?

Vince.
